The Client-Friendly Layer in a Big Data World
Consumers have rapidly adapted to the data economy and have been conditioned to expect that products they use deliver data insights to enhance their experiences. Unfortunately, data projects – whether as product innovations at startups or as systems management initiatives at established companies – often overlook packaging analytics for end-user consumption.
At the outset of client engagements, we often see that reporting functionality is the first question business stakeholders ask and the last problem that data solution architects think about. At the point of implementation, the lack of client-facing reporting has become an urgent business problem. Good product strategists recognize that if clients can’t see the value in the data through appealing and meaningful interactive reporting, their business will struggle to see return on the investment made in the development process.
Consumer Interface Key to IoT Success
The advance in consumer education and expectation around analytics means that Internet of Things ventures that do not successfully integrate client-facing reporting will fail in the market. For this reason, Blacklight Solutions has developed an expertise in building client-facing analytics and reporting applications. These solutions can be embedded into an existing software product for a seamless client experience, or can be offered as stand-alone portals to increase product value.
As the Internet of Things world matures, consumers will be at the epicenter of its development. The products that can make clients happy by nailing utility, analytics and reporting, and user experience will win in this space.
Blacklight Solutions will be joining AWS re:invent in Las Vegas November 11–14, 2014.
AWS re:Invent promises to be “largest gathering of the global Amazon Web Services community.” We’re sponsoring a booth at the trade show to talk about how you can add analytics to your software product.
Please stop by if you are at the event. We’d love to answer your embedding, virtualization and analytics questions, or just catch up on your projects.
Give us a call or send us a note if you will be there!
